The funds will be available to cities, counties, regional governments, and Indian reservation lands over a 5 year period. The money will help deploy EV chargers, hydrogen fuel stations and other reduced-emissions systems near their residents although hydrogen fuel stations have not received a lot of attention.
A portion of the funding is for publicly accessible charging location such as parking facilities, parks, and schools with the rest being applied to travel corridors such as highways to assist with long distance travel.
The aim of the program is to provide consistent and available charging throughout the United States with a commitment to have 500,000 EV charging locations by 2030. Additionally, money is being provided for rural and underserved urban communities as well that should drive overall EV adoption, Government officials have to apply no later than May 30th.
