Porsche is the Latest Automaker to Invest in EV Charging
Porsche expands EV charging portfolio with ABB investment
ABB-Electrify recently received a multi-million dollar investment from Porsche. ABB recently opened a state-of-the-art factory in Italy where it states it can build a DC fast charger every 20 minutes.
"In addition, ABB announced it would spend $4 million to open an EV charging facility in Columbia South Carolina this past September, which began production at the beginning of 2023. ABB E-Mobility claims to have some of the fastest EV charging speeds, with its Terra 360 capable of delivering 100 kilometers (about 62 miles) range in less than three minutes."
ABB’s US headquarters is in Cary, North Carolina. Its South Carolina-manufactured EV chargers will meet the Federal Highway Administration’s proposed Buy America Act framework as well as the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program’s requirements.
The automaker is making a transition from gas to electric vehicles with a goal of 80% of all sales to be EV models. "The luxury automaker produced its 100,000th Porsche Taycan EV model in November."
